It’s been a long time since I’ve been at the site. Early this year, I wanted to re-commit myself to Eva Junkie. But as of August 2012, my heart just isn’t in it anymore. I don’t think any updates will take place at the site anymore. I’m going to leave the site open for a while but I might shut it down soon.

Phase 4 Films has snapped up all North American rights to director Barry Battles’ action comedy “The Baytown Outlaws,” starring Eva Longoria, Billy Bob Thornton, Paul Wesley, Andre Braugher and Thomas Brodie-Sangst.

Phase 4 plans to release the pic theatrically early next year. Film, directed by Barry Battles, was formerly titled “The Baytown Disco.” Screenplay by Battles and Griffin Hood made the 2009 Black List.

LLeju Prods.’ William O. Perkins financed and produced the film alongside Robert Teitel from State Street Pictures. Hood, Ryan Jones, Thomas J. Busch and Mary Vernieu exec produce.

“Baytown” centers on a trio of ruthless Alabama brothers hired to return a kidnapped wheelchair-bound teen to his grandmother.

Deal was negotiated by Phase 4′s Larry Greenberg and Katharyn Howe with WME Global on behalf of the filmmakers. Highland Film Group is handling international sales.

Eva Longoria, James Roday and Kevin Alejandro are among this year’s Imagen Award nominees with San Antonio ties vying for honors for their positive portrayals of Latinos.

Roday, a 1994 Taft High School grad, is up for his lead role in “Psych,” and the San Antonio-born Alejandro, who grew up in West Texas, is up for his supporting role in “True Blood.”

Longoria is nominated for her work in the 2011 film “Without Men,” which had a brief theatrical run here last summer.

The Imagen Awards honor “positive images of Latinos and Latino cultures in entertainment as well as Latino creative contributions to the television and film industries,” according to a news release from the Imagen Foundation, which oversees the awards program that was first established in 1985.

Nominees for this year’s awards were announced June 18.

Other nominees include young actresses who hail from Texas. Selena Gomez, who’s from Grand Prairie, was nominated for her work in “Wizards of Waverly Place,” and Houston native Cierra Ramirez is up for her supporting role opposite Eva Mendes in the coming-of-age film “Girl in Progress.” Newcomer Corina Calderon, who’s from Austin, is nominated for her lead role in the small-budget indie “All She Can,” which was filmed in South Texas.
